The primary purpose of the organization is to sponsor an International Conference on User Modeling every two years. Since 2008, the user modeling conference will be merged with the conference on Adaptive Hypertext and Hypermedia and the new annual conference will be called User Modeling Adaptation and Personalization (UMAP).
